Committing mind and body to dog rescue is like signing up for a perpetual roller coaster ride, like living in a Chicken Soup book.
Yesterday, out of the blue, there is my second foster girl Maddy, a huge grin on her face, tearing around my backyard - with her best friend Bailey.
Yipes they have escaped from mom and dad again!
I corralled both dogs and phoned mom, who agreed to come right over and collect her wayward girls.

My initial shock was replaced by the joy of seeing two happy young dogs frolicking in the pen.
Knowing that, without the rescue, Maddy would have had no life beyond the time she spent in the shelter. I am touched.
In Maddy's eyes, I could see that she certainly remembers her foster days - here with me.

Maddy thanked me, in that moment, as only she could, and my heart swelled with joy to see her again.
